Ne avevamo gia parlato quasi un anno fa con Wi-Move, e a partire dal 1° maggio, giornata importante per i Cagliaritani, è stata inaugurato il nuovo sistema wireless che il Comune di Cagliari mette a disposizione di turisti e cittadini per navigare con i propri portatili e cellulari.
La manifestazione di Sant’Efisio è stata dunque coperta dal servizio, come prova generale, permettendo a tutti coloro che si trovavano in via Roma e largo Carlo Felice, viale Buoncammino, piazza Indipendenza, Giardini Pubblici e Lungomare Poetto, di seguire tramite collegamenti audio/video la sagra: progressivamente le 28 antenne che coprono le attuali zone verranno implementate per aggiungere altre vie e piazze.
Queste le caratteristiche del nuovo servizio di rete senza fili: l’accesso ai siti istituzionali è sempre possibile, per conoscere le informazioni su iniziative, orari dei mezzi pubblici, mappe, viabilità e parcheggi, mentre la navigazione libera è limitata a un’ora al giorno.
La rete è alimentata dalla fibra ottica che percorre la città per 82 km. Per accedere al servizio basta trovarsi in una delle zone raggiunte dal servizio; la rete wireless figurerà tra quelle disponibili; è necessario inserire il proprio numero di cellulare, per poi ricevere tramite sms le credenziali necessarie. Questo vale per i cittadini italiani; i turisti stranieri devono invece (a meno che non intendano acquistare un cellulare italiano) recarsi personalmente presso gli Infopoint oppure presso la sede dell’Urp del Comune di Cagliari e fornire una serie di dati (al fine di rispettare la legge che impone la certezza dell’identità quando ci si connette al web).
Il servizio proietta Cagliari al secondo posto in Italia per tecnologia ad uso e consumo del pubblico, aspettando i successivi passi dell’amministrazione in questo senso.
